On Monday of this week Nate had another ADR session.  It was fun to meet Molly and her mom Debbie. 
Wouldn't you know it, Debbie quilts!  You can guess what we were busy talking about.  She also showed us some of the projects that she brought with her.  They were cute Easter felt projects.

Another Great ADR Session

This past Monday I braved the wintry Wisconsin roads down to Nate Sisson's sound studio for another ADR session.  It was great to see Molly Kunz (who plays Kate Carter) and her mom Debbie again.  As I've said before, things are much more laid back when recording ADR so it's fun to spend time with the actors in this less stressful environment. 

The recording session went great and we even captured some interviews with Molly to use in the behind the scenes portion of the DVD.  Who knows, maybe a few small BTS clips will even show up here before the DVD comes out...

The Penny

Last weekend we had some company.   Post production is in full swing for the feature film that Nate has been working on, The Penny.    I borrowed this from Filmweaver's production blog.  For more of the story and pictures you can go there!

ADR for "The Penny"

ADR recording for "The Penny" is currently in full swing.  For those unfamiliar with it, ADR (short for automated dialogue replacement) is the process of re-recording lines of dialogue from the film which for some reason or another were unable to be used from the original audio recorded during production.  Sometimes the shot was too wide to properly mic the actors, other times traffic or wind noise may have been too loud, etc.

This past weekend Brian Morvant (who plays "Rick") and Kyle Walters (who plays "Curt") flew in from New York City to record their ADR down in Illinois at Nate Sisson's studio.  It was a jam packed couple of days as we worked long hours to get the necessary work done in the limited amount of time we had.  Happily, we were able to accomplish everything with even a little bit of Saturday evening to spare.

One Good Man

Off to Wisconsin

Nate has escaped to Wisconsin. Fishing, hiking, climbing . . . . . . . well no. (well maybe??) He's up with the Filmweaver group shooting pick-ups for the movie The Penny.


I think that involves shooting scenes that they need to add or that they need to redo. I'm not exactly sure. I guess I'll find out next time he calls.

I couldn't post about Nate without a picture. I just don't have any of him with his sound gear and I didn't take one before he left. So I stuck this picture in. I bet he's not dressing like this up there at all. "smile"

Someone's Birthday!

Haley had a birthday last month!! I was going to put up pictures, but we only took a few and I wanted more.
So I dug some out from the past I had on the computers.

It has been really fun to look through these.
What memories!

Yes I liked to sew and dress the girls alike.

The only thing that would have been more fun was to have more girls!


Gretchen had waited ten years for a sister. She was thrilled and they are still really close.

We've always enjoyed hats!

Ravinia!

Well here is where we went after dinner for this year's birthday. The birthday girl planned the evening. You know Ice Cream is good even when the temperature is well below freezing.


Happy Birthday Haley. May you find Jesus near every day of the year! We love you.

History Day 4

Tomorrow is our fourth History Study Day. As always we are excited to get together with our friends and make history come alive. We've set out all our material for the activities and laid out our WW II clothing.

Tomorrow we will be doing a variety of activities; playing games from the time period, doing map study and map games, working on our time lines, and making silly putty, among other things!


Did you know that silly putty is something you can make in your own kitchen! Here's a little silly putty trivia:

During World War II, Japan invaded numerous rubber-producing countries, cutting the United States off from the rubber supplies it needed to manufacture truck tires and boots. So the War Production Board asked American companies to develop a synthetic rubber. James Wright, an General Electric engineer, invented a gooey, bouncy substance. He didn't see a use for it, but marketing whiz Peter Hodgson thought it would make a great toy. He was right. When Hodgson introduced it to American kids it was an instant hit.

Well making silly putty will be a first for us. There's one more thing that we set out for another interesting first for the kids: Spam!


Many soldiers lived on it. We'll see how the kids like it! "Grin"

Behind the Scenes with Filmweavers

Nate's been in Wisconsin with the Filmweavers group shooting their latest movie, The Penny.
He is the sound recordist for the project.



He has really enjoyed getting to know and working with everyone on the crew.





They started out shooting all the outside scenes before the snow fell.



















This translates into 18 hour
days . . .

. . . . . and nights. Many of the night shoots were in windy below freezing weather. Frost would form on all the equipment and it was COLD.

Rumor has it that they became familiar with

"Rockstar" drink in an effort to remain conscious during those never ending days and nights.



I heard tell of two scheduled shoots that extended back to back into 28 hours straight filming for the crew. Nate said that they are a great group of people to work with, good thing huh?
