Daughters of Virtue

Saturday Gretchen was invited to speak at a Christmas Tea. This group of mothers and daughters have been meeting for several years now to encourage biblical femininity. They meet monthly to study a character quality and learn a skill or craft. This was their yearly tea.

The girls made the favors and the beautiful Christmas ornaments for each of us to take home with us. Each ornament had the verse that Gretchen shared out of (Psalms 144 : 12) on it. She was excited to encourage the girls as to how they could become strong "pillars", to support and adorn their families, and be an example and influence from their homes.

Here is a favorite challenge of ours from Recovering Biblical Manhood & Womanhood: A Response to Evangelical Feminism by John Piper and Wayne Grudem that we shared with the girls and ladies:

That you not assume that secular employment is a greater challenge or a better use of your life than the countless opportunities of service and witness in the home, the neighborhood, the community, the church, and the world; that you not only pose the question: career or full-time homemaker? but that you ask just as seriously: full-time career or freedom for ministry? That you ask: Which would be greater for the Kingdom ----to work for someone who tells you what to do to make his or her business prosper, or to be God’s free agent dreaming your own dream about how your time and your home and your creativity could make God’s business prosper? And that in all this you make your choices not on the basis of secular trends or upward lifestyle expectations, but on the basis of what will strengthen the faith of the family and advance the cause of Christ.

There were approximately 70 mothers, daughters and grandmothers who attended.

After she spoke there were many who wanted to hear her courtship story. She was delighted to comply! ;-) God's faithful provision for she and Kyle is one of her favorite subjects right now.

Sister time!

Thank you to this lovely group of ladies.

Fun times to be fully enjoyed!

That house looks like your house. I had to go through them twice to tell if it was your house or not!

Even if I would not necessarily want to go, it looks like you had a wonderful time.
