The Boys are Off!

The guys have vacated this weekend! They have taken off for reasons of both pleasure and work. "smile"

Matthew and Andrew are headed out on an adventure.

They are taking some office equipment to Ohio. That's the instigation for their trip. No reason to waste a perfectly good weekend on business only. From there they are traveling to Michigan for a drive along the lake.

Then they are heading to the family cabin in Wisconsin for a work day.

Being lovers of the lake and sailing they are getting to Wisconsin via the ferry. FUN

Matthew could hardly wait to GO GO GO!

Nate's having a different sort of adventure. He and a group of young men are convening at Gretchen and Kyle's house for a work party. They really work hard, but have so much fun in the process. (not to mention biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and desserts) Nothing compares to working along side friends.

Looks like we girls are left to fend for ourselves.

Time for GIRL FUN. Woo Hoo!!!

Hinds Feet on High Places

Ken has been up on the roof a bit lately. He headed up in the rain yesterday morning at 6:30 AM hoping that he could finish his project.

What a man!
Up early!
Working at dangerous heights!
Undaunted by drizzle and rain!
Blessing his family!

Matthew enjoyed helping.
He didn't really enjoy climbing the ladders. It's a LONG way down once you are up there!

The end product is a sky lite for our upstairs bathroom. It adds so much natural light to the room. It's great.

Y'all come on over and we might let you see it. ( For sure if you spend the night!)

Grandpa's Dog

Haley and I were at G&G Sisson's on Sunday. We got such pleasure from Trixie. She's sweet, quiet and a great lap dog. I couldn't resist getting this picture of Grandpa and his dog in their favorite configuration. "smile"

As I was preparing this post, I decided to look to see what quotes I could find from Winston Churchill about dogs. Churchill has been One of Dad's favorite people to study. This was the only Churchill quote about dogs I could find. Sorry Dad. It still gave me a chuckle.

I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.

Here are a few more quotes that I enjoyed.
There is no such thing as public opinion. There is only published opinion.

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.

We occasionally stumble over the truth but most of us pick ourselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.

We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out.

When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

Mexican Fiesta

It was Grandparents night last night so we decided to have a Mexican Fiesta dinner.

We used the beautiful Mexican blanket that Ken and Haley brought home for our table cloth. Colorful!

Grandpa has his sunglasses on because he broke not only his glasses, but also his spare pair. We thought this might give us an edge when playing games later, but no luck. He beat us anyway.

Our menu was chicken Quesadillas, Spanish Rice, Refried Beans, Watermelon, and tortilla chips with salsa. Oh . . . . .yummy.

G& G Lainio love to play cards.
They ususaly beat us.
Here is a little game of
Seven Up and Down.

Later the rest of us joined in and we played with two decks. Lots of fun.

Wonderful Find

I found the most wonderful tool on line this morning!

I do my Bible study in my room sitting at my plastic table/desk which is right next to my computer. Often I will look up things on BibleGateway.com. They have great references and all the translations that you can imagine. Well this morning I wanted to look up the word reproof in the 1828 dictionary. Rats I didn't know where it was. The kids are always carrying it off somewhere. So I typed in the words 1828 dictionary and it took me to a site where I can use the dictionary! I can look up a word or it's synonyms! WOW what a treasure. I just thought everyone should know about it.
Here's the link: http://1828.mshaffer.com

1828 Noah Webster Dictionary

Be warned, I haven't investigated anything else about the links on this site, but just being able to use the dictionary is great for me. Now I know exactly where I can find it!
