24 Hour Christian Filmmaker's Competition

Last weekend while we were opening gifts, Nate was working with several of his friends making a film. They had a blast. The goal was to make a 3 minute short in 24 hours. There were things that had to be in the video in order to show that it was made within the 24 hour period. I understand that some things could be prediscussed and organized, but not much.

The information that they needed for the competition was given out at 6 AM Saturday morning and they had to submit their film by 6 AM on Sunday!

The guys that Nate got together had discussed next to nothing, some of them hadn't worked together before, and they didn't have any actors other then themselves.

There were a number of different elements that could be used in the short. 1. mismatched socks 2. Cheerios 3. a guitar 4. a baseball 5. a 720 degree pan or two different statements. You had to use least three elements in the film and they had to fit naturally into the story.

It was really challenging to come up with a story, plan the filming and pull it off in 24 hours. I think that was what made it so fun.

It was really a collaborative effort. Nate loved working with this team of friends.

For those of you who know anything, this is Nate's camera, a Panasonic DVX 100A . He's used it in filming "Doors of the Heart".

The day turned sunny so they had to cover the car to keep the lighting the same as it had been in earilier shots.
I think they had too much fun. Here's the film. They were competing just for the fun of it (and you always learn something new), but it was nice that they were chosen in the top ten.

Gifts

Friday night the kids came in from Mexico. Their flight was delayed and we ended getting home at close to 2 AM Yikes. They stayed the weekend with us in our makeshift honeymoon suite and we had a great time together.

On Saturday afternoon G&G Lainio came over to take part in the wedding present opening!

It took all afternoon (including a nap break).

The generosity and love that our friends and family poured out was overwhelming.

This picnic basket was also loaded with chocolates! Hum wonder who this is from????

They had to get a little smooching in, after all they are newlyweds!

It will take a number of trips to take everything down to them in Oakland!

They received some of the most beautiful things. They also got a stash of games. I know they are looking forward to using them with lots of company.

They Are Back

They are back from Mexico. I'll soon put up pictures from the weekend together!

Wedding Night

When we came home after lots of visiting at the reception, Gretchen's shoes were there at the bottom of the stairs to greet us.

Yep. She's got the Sisson turned up Genie toes!


Those shoes weren't the only things to greet us. K&G had come back to our house to change before leaving on their honeymoon. They had caringly left us a sweet surprise. "Big Smile"

This TV tray was set in the middle of the room. In the gift we found a video of one of Danny Kaye's movies. He's one of our family favorites.

So Sunday night when total exhaustion set in, we headed to the basement with supper to watch it.

Here's Ken snuggled up in a quilt. He and I both fell asleep while watching.

In spite of that, we appreciated Kyle and Gretchen's thoughtfulness. They are so sweet. We have been blessed. . . . . . . .

After the Wedding

We were blessed to have friends and family stay and fellowship with us Sunday morning after the wedding.

We had folks from Pennsylvania, Texas, Indiana, and Southern Illinois (Can I count that as one of the states represented??) join us for worship and lunch.

We were privileged to have Brenda and Mike Houk join us from Kyle's fellowship in Oakland. Brenda, I still want to hear the rest of the story!

Dear dear friends, the Moellers. What a provision from the Lord to have them with us for the wedding celebration. That was a matter of much prayer for our family and we are so grateful to Him for allowing them to be with us.

Aliza, Celene and Jeff

Aliza and Jeff are great parents. They are doing a fantastic job. They have my "Stamp of Approval". I told Gretchen to feel free to call them for child training advise. (after me of course)

Grandma Sisson and Tim

The home where we met belongs to Ken's folks. It's used for missionaries who are in the states on furlough. It's a tremendous blessing to many many couples and families, including us.




These guys are cousins sort of. I still don't know if it's 2nd cousins or cousins once removed.

We were thrilled to have the Wilson family come up for the wedding and then stay on Sunday. They live a bit south of Kyle and Gretchen and I know that Gretchen is looking forward to getting together with them when Kyle's jobs take him in that direction. They are such sweet and encouraging friends.
