Quilting

Fabric, thread, machines, rulers, QUILTING! I love anything to do with sewing. Well . . . . . maybe not mending.

We recently had a few friends over to introduce them to the joys of quilting. Here the Lewis girls are cutting out strips of fabric to piece together for their lap quilt top. We all made Log Cabin Quilts.
My little pile of fabric is in the background there.
One of their sweet girls had so much fun playing with Haley's old playmo princess castle!

Here their top is finished, basted to the bottom and they are on the ping pong table adding the batting. Notice a square of bright fabric (Haley's ) and one square of theirs. I ask each quilt maker to make an extra square to give to me.

I almost have enough to make my own signature quilt from these "extras".

They've turned the quilt and it's ready to be quilted!

The squares can be arranged in a number of different patterns to give the feel that you like. Their pattern is called "Timberline". Note the diagonal stripe of green running from corner to corner. Isn't it beautiful!

Emily and her three sons came a little later than the Lewis family. Here she's cutting her strips.

This is how the boys played with the princess castle.

Here's Emily's fabulous quilt. She definitely has the quilting gene!

My quilt doesn't have a pattern. I sewed it together in a random fashion.

I made one for the sheer enjoyment of it all.

There was enough time for a few rounds of Dutch Blitz!

Haley's making a BRIGHT lap quilt.

Haley's is pieced together in the Fields and Furrow's pattern.

Instead of a solid back consisting of one fabric, she chose to randomly piece the back. It goes well with the front and is more interesting to look at.

It was so bright and cheery. Kind of like her!

In case you've ever wondered . . .

. . . this is what the world looks like when you're in love.

If you see anything at all, it's usually kind of light, soft, and fuzzy-looking around the edges.
Just thought you'd like to know.

Corn Maze

A group gathered last weekend to visit the "World's Largest Corn Maze".

We split into 4 teams.

The maze was much different than some expected it to be.

It took a while to get used to the scale of the map.

Does anyone know where we are???

Here's another group. Wonder where they are going???

At last a post that tells us where we really are.
Each post has a uniquely shaped paper punch.

There are 24 punches in all.
Find them all to complete the maze.

Here's the tower where you can look down on the maze. That's part of our group up there!

A small section of the maze. There are more than 13 miles of trails throughout.

At the end there were some pedal powered GoKarts.

They were fun for everyone who dared.

There are lots of ways to record this event.

There were 27 who braved the maze. Can you figure out who the photographer was? Yes he/she was from our group. :-)

Sunday Dinner

Sunday afternoons are a welcome time in our family. We are usually at home with the family or sometimes friends.

This Sunday G&G Lainio joined us.

We are blessed beyond measure to have them close by.

We are glad."

Meet Marigold

Meet the newest member of our cat family. Her name is Marigold. The other cats are intrigued and slightly confused by her. One minute she is rubbing against them, the next she's hissing.
Give them a couple of days and they will all be fast friends.
